Mizzou Basketball Stuns Minnesota in Comeback Win For the Ages

Tigers Trailed by 20 points with just over 11 minutes to play when they went on a 31-9 run to secure one of the biggest comebacks in team history.

At their peak of the second half, Minnesota was up 59-39 with 11:25 remaining, giving Missouri only a 2.2% chance of winning according to a data table Tweeted by the Missouri basketball X account.

A three-point play by Sean East, II with 9.9 seconds remaining would be the final points of the game as Mizzou would go on to win 70-68 on Thursday night. It was the Tigers’ first road win at a Big Ten school since they beat Indiana in December of 2003.

The stat of the game was turnovers as Mizzou only committed eight compared to 16 for the Golden Gophers. Mizzou also made eight three-pointers on the night to help secure the comeback. The Tigers also moved to 25-0 under head coach Dennis Gates when the team scores 70 or more points.

Mizzou basketball next takes on Jackson State on Sunday at 5:00pm CT at Mizzou Arena.
